Martin Hanzal has received a one-game suspension for his boarding major on Los Angeles Kings forward Dustin Brown in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. He was given a game misconduct for his actions in the contest and will not be in the lineup when the series shifts to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Thursday night. Hanzal will be eligible to return on Sunday afternoon in the fourth game of the best-of-seven series. He has three goals and five points in 10 postseason contests.

Derek Morris received a kneeing penalty in Tuesday's Game 2 loss to Los Angeles, but he won't face supplemental discipline for the infraction. NHL Director of Player Safety Brendan Shanahan said via his twitter page that the two minute penalty on the play was sufficient punishment. The incident occurred during the third period on Kings defenseman Rob Scuderi. Morris, who has been steady on the blueline for Phoenix with five points and a plus-4 rating in 13 playoff games, will be eligible to play in Game 3 Thursday night.

Shane Doan won't be disciplined by the NHL for his boarding major in Tuesday's Game 2 loss to Los Angeles. League disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan ruled that Kings forward Trevor Lewis turned right before Doan made contact, which was the same view that the Phoenix captain had after the game. Doan was given a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct late in the second period. He has accumulated seven points in 13 playoff games and will be available for Game 3 on Thursday.

May 16, 3:19PM
Paul Gaustad is eligible for unrestricted free agency this summer. The Predators gave up a first-round pick for him at the trade deadline, so they'll probably make a pitch to retain his services but he'll likely have to come at a cheaper rate after his previous cap hit was set at $2.3 million. Gaustad is a strong faceoff man, who can chip in some offense and physicality to a team's bottom-six forward group.

May 16, 2:56PM
Max Pacioretty has been excellent at the World Hockey Championships for Team USA. He racked up two goals and nine assists in seven games during the preliminary round. "I've only played one other time for USA Hockey and that was world juniors, I had a rough tournament," said Pacioretty, who was held without a point in six games in that tournament. "I came here with motivation to prove to people that I can play at the international level." The 23-year-old forward enjoyed a career-year with Montreal in 2011-12 with 33 goals and 65 points in 79 contests.

May 16, 2:05PM
Ryan Callahan has been mired in an offensive slump in his past five playoff games. The Rangers captain has one assist and a minus-1 rating over that span. He has taken 16 shots and has continued to throw his weight around, but can't seem to get on the scoreboard. Callahan will look to break out of his current funk in Game 2 against New Jersey on Wednesday night.
