League Commissioners
The menu on the right hand side of the screen has a Create League option, which lets you choose the sport you want and then
starts the league setup process.
Go to Commissioner --> All Options --> Delete this league. Once your league has been deleted, you will not be
able to recover it.
* This option is not available for public leagues if other teams have joined.
1) Go to Commissioner --> League Setup --> Teams & Schedules --> Teams.
2) For each team you want to invite, enter their e-mail address. Team Name and Abbreviation are optional.
3) Check the Send Invitation boxes for these teams.
4) Enter a personal message you would like these team owners to receive in their e-mail invitations (optional).
5) Click the Send e-mail invitations and save button.
You cannot send e-mail invitations on that screen to team owners that have already joined your league. You can see which teams
have owners in the Joined column on that screen.
This feature will be available sometime in 2011. However, there is a workaround which you can accomplish by creating a copy
of your league in Commissioner --> All Options --> Copy/Renew League, then creating a new playoff bracket just for the
losing teams, in the new copied league.
Go to Commissioner --> League Setup --> Teams & Schedules --> Teams, enter the 2 fields at the top of the screen
(Team Name & Abbreviation), click the Create button beside them, then save the page.
Yes, each team can have a double-header or as many matchups per scoring period as you like. This must be done
manually at this time with the following steps:
1) Go to Commissioner --> League Setup --> Teams & Schedules --> Matchups.
2) Select the Scoring Period you wish to view/edit.
3) Add as many matchups per team as you wish, for example:
Team A vs Team B
Team A vs Team C
Team A vs Team D
In the near future we will develop an automated system for creating multiple matchups per period.
There are a few league rules that can be configured to prevent most if not all types of collusion:
1) Waiver Wire: There are many different types of Waiver Wire configurations, but the general idea is to
give every team a chance to pick up a player that has been dropped into the Free Agent pool. This will prevent
one team from dropping a player specifically so another team he's colluding with can pick him up immediately
after, provided that your Free Agent Claim System is set to "Free For All".
2) Trade Voting System: There are many different configuratons for trade voting, but the general idea is
to prevent teams from making grossly unfair trades with each other. If enough team owners vote against the trade,
(or the Commissioner, depending on the type of voting system configured) it will be vetoed.
Other collusion-preventing measures including "Can't Drop Lists" are coming soon. In the meantime, if you feel a team is cheating/colluding, don't hesitate to let us know. We do reserve the right to remove teams from Public leagues that we strongly feel are doing so.
Private leagues: Yes, any rule can be changed at any time.
Public leagues: No changes to League Setup can be made by the Commissioner after 1 or more teams have joined your league. Generally,
there must be a unanimous vote from all active league members in your league's message forums for Fantrax to make any such changes.
If this unanimous vote does occur, contact us via our
feedback form and we will make
the change(s). However, there are certain changes that we will make for you that don't require a league vote, most often because an
error was made in the League Setup (e.g. you didn't configure the proper # of min/max players required to allow for a legal roster.
* Any changes to league settings (e.g. to your league's scoring system or roster restrictions) will always take effect retroactive to
the start of the season, and NOT from the date the change was made on.
Go to Commissioner --> League Setup --> Misc --> Keeper League, and check the "Is this a keeper league" box. You will then
see several new keeper league options available to you.
You can upload your league's logo in Commissioner --> League Setup --> General. The logo will then appear in your fantasy
league home page, and in the near future several other pages.
1) Go to Commissioner --> League Setup --> Teams & Schedules --> Teams.
2) Fill in the Team Name and Team Abbreviation fields at the top of the screen.
3) Click the Create button.
4) Click Save or Save & Continue.
* The above applies to Private leagues. Commissioners will automatically have their team created when creating a new
Public league.
Go to Commissioner --> All Options --> Copy/Renew League. You will be able to copy/renew every aspect of your league,
including the league settings, teams, players, contracts, salaries, etc.
Message forum postings cannot be edited at this time, but you can delete them by clicking on the "Delete this message" or "Delete this
thread" link (to delete the entire thread/topic) when viewing a posting.
This functionality is not available yet, but will be in the near future.
1) Go to Commissioner --> League Setup --> Teams & Schedules --> Teams.
2) Clik the + icon next to the team you want to add a 2nd owner to.
3) Enter the e-mail address for that 2nd owner.
4) Repeat steps 2 & 3 to add more owners to that team.
5) Save the page.
Go to Commissioner --> All Options --> Enable/Disable Commissioners.
Go to Commissioner --> All Options --> Manage Owners.
This option isn't in the user interface quite yet, however we can do that for you. Simply let us know which 2
periods you want merged.
This option isn't in the user interface quite yet, however we can do that for you. Simply let us know which sets

To configure your playoff matchups manually (i.e. select which fantasy teams will play each other in which round):
1) Go to Commissioner --> League Setup --> Teams & Schedules --> Playoffs.
2) Check the Use Playoffs option if it isn't checked already.
3) Check the Enter playoff matchups manually option if it isn't checked already and save the page.
4) Go to Commissioner --> League Setup --> Teams & Schedules --> Matchups.
5) Select the 1st Playoff Scoring Period and configure the appropriate matchups.
6) Repeat step #5 for subsequent round of the playoffs, once the previous round is over.
* The above should be done once your regular season is over and/or the playoff seeds have been determined.
To use Fantrax's playoff matchup generator:
1) Go to Commissioner --> League Setup --> Teams & Schedules --> Playoffs.
2) Check the Use Playoffs option if it isn't checked already.
3) Uncheck the Enter playoff matchups manually option if it isn't unchecked already.
4) Configure all other settings on that page as you wish and save the page.
** Commissioners of Public leagues must use Fantrax's playoff matchup generator and can only change those settings
before the league's draft begins.
The Commissioner of a league can enter Commissioner Mode (by clicking on the yellow "OFF" link) in the Team Roster,
Claim/Drop and Trade screens. This allows him/her to execute any type of transaction (lineup changes, claims/drops,
trades) for any team owner and for any period or date from the beginning of the season.
Go to the Teams tab (found in Commissioner Options --> League Setup --> Teams & Schedules), click the "x"
(remove) icon beside the team's name, and click the "Save" button. All that team's players (if any) will then
either go to the Waiver Wire (if your league uses the Waiver Wire) or become Free Agents.
Clicking on the Publish button in any of the League Setup screens will make your league appear in the Published Leagues
page. Any Fantrax user can join a league that appears in this screen, however Private leagues will require the user to enter
a League ID and Password in order to join the league.
Simply add that scoring category to your league's scoring system in Commissioner --> League Setup --> Scoring, and
assign a value of 0 to it.
Yes, this option is available in Commissioner --> League Setup --> Player Pool.
Go to Commissioner --> All Options --> Player Position Eligibility, select the player you wish to remove, remove (uncheck)
all eligible positions for that player, then click the Change Position Eligibility button. If that player is already on
a fantasy team, he must be dropped in order to be removed from your league.
Clicking the Publish button will make your league appear in the Published Leagues page, where any Fantrax user
will be allowed to join it. If your league is set to Private, then a League ID and Password will be required to join
it.
Go to Commissioner --> League Setup --> Teams & Schedules --> Matchups, and click the Regenerate Matchups
button.
Team Owners
A Duplicate Player league is a league that allows any player to exist on multiple fantasy teams at any time. This is often used for
Salary Cap leagues, but can be used for any other type of league as well. There are 2 types of Duplicate Player leagues:
1) Across Different Divisions: Each division has its own player pool. For example, if a fantasy team owns Player A in Division 1, no other
teams in that division can own that player. However, teams in Division 2 (or any other division) can own that player. Trades can be
made within each division, but not between teams in different divisions. Also, each division has its own Free Agent claim
priority order (if your league does not use the Free For All (1st come 1st serve) FA claim system. The Waiver Wire
process is not available.
2) Across the Entire League: Any player can be owned by any number of fantasy teams, regardless of whether or not the league has
any divisions. Trading and the Waiver Wire process are of course not necessary, and thus not allowed.
We aim to have as user-friendly an interface as possible, however we have so far geared more towards having the most
powerful, flexible and feature-rich Commissioner product in the industry. Because of the high level of configuration
our Commissioner leagues allow, many types of league configurations (particularly the roster restrictions) that
aren't of the basic variety would simply not be suitable for a drag & drop interface. With that being said, we
do have plans to allow for such an interface for leagues where it's feasible.
To add players to your Watch List, go to the Players page and click on the watch list icon (picture of an eye) in
the Action column.
You can view your Watch List in the fantasy league home page by clicking on the Watch List tab (next to the
All Player News tab) in the Players section.
Please refer to the
Tiebreakers section in
Other --> League Rules Summary. If you feel that the order of the
standings still isn't correct, and you're using the "best head-to-head record" tiebreaker method, please refer to the FAQ
question "Why do I appear below a team in the standings when I have the same or better head-to-head record against them?".
If you've already done so, feel free to contact us via our
feedback form.
The tiebreaker rule "Best head-to-head record" takes your combined record against ALL of the teams you're tied with, as
opposed to your record against each one of the teams you're tied with. For example, if 4 teams have the same overall
head-to-head record, and the results of playing against each other were:
Team A beat Team B
Team B beat Team C
Team C beat Team A
Team A beat Team B
Although Team B beat Team C in their only matchup, Team C would appear above Team B in the standings due to having a better record
against all teams he's tied with (Team C: 1-1-0, Team B: 1-2-0). If you have the same head-to-head record as the team you're
tied with, then the next tiebreaker rule is used, which you can find in the Tiebreakers section in Other --> League
Rules Summary.
Yes, you can view all players who have had their positions overridden by the Commissioner, including what their original
and new eligible positions are in Other --> All Options --> Overridden Positions.
Go to the Players page and hover your mouse over "WW" for the player in question.
At this time none of our data providers carry injury data for NCAA Basketball or NCAA Football. We are looking into
other options and hope to make this available before the 2010 seasons. In the meantime, if your league uses the
Injured Reserve status, your Commissioner will have to manually administer this (he can set any roster player to
Injured Reserve status using Commissioner Mode).
This could mean one of 2 things:
1) The team owner has abandoned his team and the league sometime after the draft has been completed.
2)
Either way, the team still exists with all its players, but is not being managed (anymore) and is available to
be taken over by someone else. If there is somebody that would like to take over such a team, he/she must contact us and we will make it happen.
There are several reasons why a player you're looking for is not appearing in your league's player pool:
1) You have "All Available Players" selected instead of "All", and the player is already on a fantasy team.
2) You have a position selected that the player is not eligible at (e.g. WR instead of RB).
3) None of the player's eligible positions are being used by your league, either because. For example if you're looking for a TE,
and your league does not use the TE position or any parent of that position (such as the RB/WR/TE "Flex" position), he will
not appear in your league's player pool. If you want to add that player to your league's player pool without adding TE to
your league's roster restrictions (in
Commissioner --> League Setup --> Rosters), your Commissioner can simply add TE
to his position eligibility (in
Commissioner --> All Options --> Player Position Eligibility).
* This can also be due to your Commissioner already having overridden that player's position eligibility with new positions that your
league isn't using. You can view all players' overridden positions in
Other --> Overridden Positions.
4) That player is on a team that doesn't exist in your league's player pool. For example if you're in an MLB
league that uses only American League teams, and you're looking for a player that belongs to a National League team,
he will not appear in your league's player pool. Teams can be added to your league's player pool via
Commissioner --> League
Setup --> Player Pool.
5) That player doesn't belong to an MLB team (or whichever sport your league is in), and your league has the "Only include
players signed to a MLB team in the player pool" option enabled (in
Commissioner --> League Setup --> Player Pool).
6) Your league had the "Lock player pool" option enabled (in
Commissioner --> League Setup --> Player Pool) at the time
that player became eligible for your league's player pool (for example, when he was added by us to our database). If the
Commissioner disables that option and saves the screen, that player (along with all other like players) will be added to your
league's player pool. If you only want to add that single player, then the Commissioner must go to
Commissioner --> League
Setup --> Salaries, download the .CSV file, add that player to the .CSV file, then submit that file.
7) That player is retired. Retired players do not appear in fantasy league player pools.
8) That player does not yet exist in our database. To determine whether or not a player exists in our database, go to
MLB
--> Players (or whichever sport your league is in), type in all or part of the player's name, and click the "Search" button.
If that player does not appear, then you can go to
Other --> Request New Players to submit a request for that player to
be added to our database.
If none of the above reasons apply, feel free to contact us via our
feedback form and we will assist you. Please ensure you've spelled the player's name correctly.
If your league is Private, there is nothing we can do about this. Private leagues must be policed by the Commissioner.
If your league is Public, please contact us via the
feedback form and explain in detail what exactly you feel the problem is. We have no
hard and fast rule as to what we will do in these situations, but we will certainly take the necessary action if
we feel strongly enough that a team owner is cheating/colluding with another team.
If you are the Commissioner of the league, go to the Teams tab (found in Commissioner Options --> League
Setup --> Teams & Schedules), click the "x" (remove) icon beside your team name, and click the "Save" button. This
will remove your fantasy team, however you will remain the Commissioner of that league.
If you are not the Commissioner, then go to Other --> All Options --> Quit League.
* Using the Quit League function after the draft has begun will remove you from the league, however your
fantasy team will remain intact. Using this function before the draft has begun will remove your fantasy team from
the league.
You're looking at it right now.
You can find all of your leagues, including all of those from previous seasons, by clicking on the League History link under
the MY LEAGUES menu or by simply clicking on the MY LEAGUES link.
A serpentine order (also commonly known as a snake order) reverses the order of teams each round. For example:
Round 1: Team 1, Team 2, Team 3, Team 4
Round 2: Team 4, Team 3, Team 2, Team 1
Round 3: Team 1, Team 2, Team 3, Team 4
... and so on. A non-serpentine order would go like this:
Round 1: Team 1, Team 2, Team 3, Team 4
Round 2: Team 1, Team 2, Team 3, Team 4
Round 3: Team 1, Team 2, Team 3, Team 4
... and so on. The serpentine order is more common, and is generally used for drafts and processing player claims.
Yes, when a player's team has been eliminated from the playoffs, a strikethrough (i.e. a horizontal line) appears in
his name, on all pages.
A player's Score is generated from a complex proprietary algorithm developed by our experts that takes into account
your league's scoring system, roster restrictions and the player's stats from the season that you're viewing. A player's Score
is not cumulative (like Fantasy Points), and is only calculated per season (i.e. you can not view a player's Score for a particular
period or any date range aside from the entire season).
Go to Other --> League Rules Summary.
You can do this in Team --> My Team Preferences.
Go to Team --> Owners List. Note that team owners have the option to hide certain information (e.g. phone #,
real name) from other league members.
The functionality to import most of your league's data from previous years is not available yet, but will be in the near future.
In the meantime, you can still create your league for the current/upcoming season, including importing any keepers teams might have,
and then import your league's historical data once that feature becomes available.
A Fantrax user may be a member of up to 30 leagues per sport. If you feel this is not enough, please contact us
via our
feedback form with a detailed
explanation and we may consider raising this limit.
Go to Other --> All Options --> Request New Players. Players will usually be added to our database and appear in your league's
player pool within 24 hours.
This feature is not available yet, however if you let us know which leagues you want to transfer your player rankings
from & to, we can do that for you.
In Rotisserie leagues, our player ranking system, or a player's Score which you can find in the Players page,
is generated from a complex proprietary algorithm developed by our experts that takes into account your league's
scoring system, roster restrictions and the player's stats from the season that you're viewing. A player's Score is not
cumulative (like Fantasy Points), and is only calculated per season (i.e. you can not view a player's Score for a particular
period or any date range aside from the entire season).
This feature is coming soon.
We have designed most pages (e.g. Players, Team Roster, Standings) to be printable in most web browsers. If you print out a page
and the result is not acceptable, let us know and we will look into it.
Select Schedule from the View dropdown box near the top of the Players page. The games where pitchers are scheduled to play
will be highlighted in green. Also if your league uses daily Lineup Periods, the Opp column in the default view of the Players page
will show scheduled starts for the selected day/period.
This feature is coming soon.
This feature is coming soon.
Go to Team --> My Team Preferences. Click on the Choose File button and select the image you want from your computer's
hard drive. Your team logo will then appear on several pages within that league.
Not yet, but this feature is coming soon.
To join a Public league click on Join League (FREE!) --> Public on the right menu. You will then be taken
to a screen with a list of public leagues with basic information on each league. Click on the league name to view
the League Rules Summary page for that league. All leagues will be displayed in order of their draft date,
with the nearest one at the top. To join a league, simply click on the Join link for the league you want
to join.
To join a Private league click on Join League (FREE!) --> Private on the right menu. You will need the
League ID and League Password, which you can obtain from the Commissioner of that league. After entering that
information, as well as your team name and abbreviation, click the Submit button, and you will be joined
to that league. You can also join a Private league via e-mail invitation, which the Commissioner must send. In this case,
the League ID and League Password are not needed.
There are 2 things that can happen when a player is traded outside of your league's player pool (a "real-sport" trade,
not a trade in your fantasy league). If that player is in the available player pool (i.e. a Free Agent or on the Waiver
Wire), he will be removed from the player pool and your league. If that player is on a fantasy team, he will remain on
that team (or any other fantasy team, if traded to another fantasy team) and in your league until he is dropped into the
available player pool. That player may or may not continue to accumulate stats however, depending on how your
Commissioner configured that rule (see the Player Pool section in the League Rules Summary page).
This is because we do not currently have projections for those stats.
We do offer a Playoff Commissioner product for all sports that is separate from our regular season Commissioner product.
However, if you want to extended your regular season league into the playoffs, there is a workaround for this. For
example, to continue your 2010 NFL regular season league into the 2010 NFL playoffs, go to Commissioner --> All Options
--> Copy/Renew League, and you will be able to do so and maintain all league rules, fantasy teams, etc.
The Position table in the Rank Players screen is not available at this time for leagues using a Live Online Draft.
By default, stats are shown with either 2 or 3 decimal places (for those that require decimal places), depending on the
stat. However, you simply need to hover your mouse over the stat to see the full number of decimal places, or at least 6.
For example, ".287" may appear as ".286858" on a mouse-over.
Live chat rooms should be available later on in the year. In the meantime, you may want to check out a 3rd party application
such as "cbox", which you can use for live chat in the league message forums.
For smartphones such as the iPhone or Android (at least most Androids, anyway), anywhere where there's internal scrolling,
such as the "fantasy team" (right) side of the Claim/Drop screen, there's a function called the "2-finger scroll", where
basically, you use 2 fingers (instead of one), slightly separated, to scroll. These scroll bars are not seen on
smartphones, but this is the way one is supposed to scroll them, since a "one-finger" scroll scrolls the entire page.
Yes, a Playoff Commissioner product is available for all sports that we offer. These Playoff Commissioner leagues offer the
same extremely high level of customizability and features as our regular season Commissioner leagues, and are generally available a few
weeks before the actual real-life playoffs (NFL, MLB, etc.) begin.
A private league is a league that users can join only if they know the League ID and Password (given to them by the Commissioner),
or by clicking on the link in an e-mail invitation sent by the Commissioner. Commissioners have full access to changing league
settings and all other Commissioner privileges throughout the entire year.
* Private leagues that are published by the Commissioner will appear in the Published Leagues page, however Fantrax
users will still require a League ID and Password to join them.
Any user can join a public league, no League ID or Password is required. After 1 or more teams have joined a public league,
it cannot be made private, and the Commissioner permanently lose all access to changing league settings and most other
Commissioner privileges. If the Commissioner wishes to change any league rule after this point, there must be a unanimous
vote in favour of this from all active league members in the league's message forums. If this does happen, the Commissioner
may notify us of this via our Feedback Form, and we will make the change.
* Public leagues that are published by the Commissioner will appear in the Published League page, where any Fantrax
can join them.
After a league is published by the Commissioner, it will appear in the Published Leagues screen, which can be accessed
by any Fantrax user. If the league is public, any user can join that league. If the league is private, a League ID and
Password are required to join.
Yes, you have 2 options:
1) Hover your mouse over the left or right edge of the Live Scoring window, click the left mouse button, then drag/stretch
the window horizontally until the horizontal scrollbars disappear.
2) If your NFL league uses "fixed range" scoring categories (as opposed to ranges you customize yourself) such as "FG 1-29",
"FG 30-39", etc., uncheck the Range box near the top right of the screen. This will hide all of them and just show 1
scoring category instead (using the above example, only "FG" would appear).
No, Match Play tournaments are not available at this time.
No, simultaneous PGA tournaments are not available at this time.
No, we don't allow editing posts because it compromises the integrity of the boards, which are meant to keep track
of what people say/claim. With the ability to edit posts, many people abuse it and post irresponsibly, and can
pretty much post anything knowing they can change it later. Most serious companies do not allow this kind of
functionality for these reasons.
Our primary data provider (Stats Inc.) is responsible for setting and adding position eligibility. They regularly
review this, based not only on time played at the position, but on news from various sources. We do also have the
ability to add position eligiblity ourselves (which would be a system-wide change), but will only do so when we
feel a player has played at his new position with sufficient regularity (1 or 2 games is generally not enough unless
it's for an NFL/NCAAF league), otherwise too many players would be eligible at too many positions. Should you ask of us
that we add a position to a player's eligibility, you must provide a strong case including links to reliable sources
that back it up, and we will then make the determination.
* Position eligibility is never removed from players during the season.
** The Commissioner of your league can override any player's eligible positions at any time in your league via
Commissioner --> All Options --> Player Position Eligibility.
A player's primary/default position is an editorial decision from our primary data provider (Stats Inc.). The
depth chart position is updated often, and should reflect which position that player is playing at that time,
but not necessarily what his primary position is.
Go to Commissioner --> All Options --> Player Position Eligibility. You'll then be able to search for any player in your league's \
player pool and select which position(s) you want him to be eligible at from a list of positions that your league uses.
Yes, by following these steps:
1) Go to Commissioner --> League Setup --> Salaries.
2) If your league does not use salaries, check the Use Salaries box.
3) Under the Salary Import section, click the Get Blank Player Spreadsheet (CSV) button with the
"Default" option selected.
4) Click the Browse button below and select the .CSV file you just downloaded.
5) Check the Lock Positions box and click the Upload Completed Spreadsheet (CSV) button.
For NCAA Commissioner leagues (Basketball or Football), unlike all of our other sports, players are added to our database
only when they are officially on their NCAA team's Active roster. If that is the case and that player does not yet exist in
our database, then please send us the link to the team's official page showing this and we will ensure that he is added
shortly thereafter.
We are not directly responsible for which ads appear on the site, however if you let us know exactly which ad
you're referring to, we will contact the appropriate ad agency in order to have it removed.
To view the probable starting pitcher against a particular player's team, hover your mouse over the link (i.e. the
team name) in the Opp column in the Players or Team Roster screen.
